We provide help with technology for people with sight loss. If you are thinking of buying a new tablet or smartphone or need help with a problem. Contact our helpline or email firstname.lastname@example.org, to arrange an appointment.
Help before you buy
Choosing a new mobile phone, tablet or computer can be confusing. Our technology service can help by letting you try different products before you buy. We can also provide training before you make a purhase.
Help after you buy
Once you’ve brought your technology, we can help you get the best out of it. Either by changing settings to make it easier to use, or providing training.
Our one-to-one training sessions are customised to your requirements. Some people just want a one-off session to help with a specific problem. Others want a structured course, either way we can help.
We encourage people to learn using their own equipment, but we also have equipment that you can use.
All our training is on a to one-to-one basis and takes place at our Scott Street premises in Keighley.
We have a range of products available to demonstrate the various types of technology available to help people living with sight loss including:-
- Screen readers – Reads out the contents of a computer, tablet or mobile phone screen.
- Magnification software magnifies the image on your computer screen, allows you to enhance how objects appear on the screen.
- Easy to use computer software – provides a simplified interface for those new to computing.
- Easy to see keyboards
- Big Keys Keyboards
- Smartphones and tablets
- Electronic magnifiers that work with computers
You may feel you need more than one appointment to help you make a decision. You are welcome to bring friends, relatives or an employer to view technology.
We’re in the process of putting together a free course on using VoiceOver the screen reader that comes with the iPhone.
